Staley Tennis Academy players opened up the new season in USTA with 5 match wins at Wildwood Racquet Club’s annual Turkey Progression Tournament.
Holden Babb (Syracuse, IN) began his USTA career in the 16U division, dropping 2-6; 1-6 to Rylan Doden (Fort Wayne, IN). Moving to the consolation bracket, Babb rallied with two solid victories (6-1; 6-0 vs Owen Holwerda of Auburn, IN and 7-6; 7-6 vs. William Jamison of Huntertown, IN).

Kiah Farrington (Pierceton, IN) opened strong with a first round main draw win against Rhegan Zitlaw (Fort Wayne, IN) 4-6; 6-1; 1-0 (12-10) in the 14U girls’ bracket. Farrington then took on the #1 seed Abigail Weaver (Wakarusa, IN) in the semifinals, dropping a closely contested match 4-6; 4-6.
Joey Harper (Warsaw, IN) continued to add to his collection of USTA trophies by going the distance in the 12U Boys Consolation tournament. After being dropped to the back draw by tournament champion Josef Ian Alkuino (Fairfield Township, OH) 3-6; 2-6, Harper swept the remaining matches, beating Eric Ji (Fort Wayne, IN) 6-3; 1-6; 1-0 (10-6) and the #1 seed Joseph Garrean (Fort Wayne, IN) 6-2; 6-4.
