This weekend we celebrated a return to competitive tennis by hosting the Staley Tennis Club Duals #1. Twelve club competitors took part in this 12-hour UTR-verified event. Somewhat of a change since our last events and everything was hosted under social distancing guidelines, including separate balls for each player. The entire event was divided into 3 sessions to keep the player and spectator numbers down and held at one of Staley Tennis Academy’s 2-court training facilities.
Grouping #1 took place on Friday afternoon. Joe Bowsher (Indianapolis, IN) was the top competitor winning both of his matches on the day. Holden Babb (Syracuse, IN) and Joseph Harper (Warsaw, IN) both won a match as well.
Grouping #2 took place on Saturday morning with Kiah Farrington (Pierceton, IN) taking the honors, winning both her matches in straights sets. Cooper LeCount (New Paris, IN) and Isaac Stahly (Goshen, IN) turned in match wins as well.
Grouping #3 took place Saturday evening with top-seeded Reese Filpus (Bremen, IN) showcasing his talent by sweeping his events. Pierson Wellington (Goshen, IN) and Colten Kitchen (Rolling Prairie, IN) both added wins to their verified UTRS.
