We’ve now began officially scheduling players for our 2019 summer courses through summer camp enrollments. Once the first class is full, we’ll no longer offer summer camp packages and we expect this to happen before new years with the current rate of new registrations.
Most of the classes will have a maximum enrollment of 16-20 players. All summer classes are available as electives (optional) for each camper to choose.
We’ve been receiving questions daily from interested players and parents, so we’re including some of these in the following Q&A:
Q: How do I enroll?
A: Go to: https://www.staleytennis.com/program-reservations/ . Fill out your contact info, select ‘I Am Interested in registering for summer camp’ and choose your electives.
Q: When does it run?
A: All summer long—June 1-July 31—(6 days a week) except for the week of the 4th of July.
Q: What ages can enroll?
A: 11-18
Q: How much does it cost?
A: $999 per player (early registration before 1/1/19 is $750 per player)
Q: What does the summer camp costs include?
A: The core package includes 8 private lessons, 8 hitting session and a player evaluation and video. Plus players can choose any/all elective courses for their respective age groups. Elective courses can be found on our summer camp page.
Q: How many hours on court will each player get?
A: Depends on elective courses. Each player is guaranteed 1 hour each week for a private lesson and hitting session. For each program they add as an elective will be an additional 1.5-3 hrs per week on court per course. Each player will also receive a tennis workout list they can use to get in extra work on court (independent practice serve sessions, additional play opportunities, hitting board exercises, and group ball machine drills).
Q: Would you recommend summer camp for my child?
A: Good question! Of course this answer differs greatly from child to child, but here’s some general guidelines we offer parents during consultations: If your child shows a drive and interest for becoming a competitive tennis player, then this summer camp is for them. If your child has no real interest or really cares about ever competing at a high school varsity level or playing in USTA tournaments, then we recommend saving your money.
Q: When do most of the activities take place?
A: Most elective courses take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9PM. Weekly competitive events are held each Saturday from 10AM-4PM. Private lessons and hitting sessions are scheduled independently with each family and generally take place M-Tu-W-Th-F from 9-noon and Mon. and Wed. evenings from 6-9 PM.
Q: What’s the difference between an elective program and a drop-in?
A: Elective programs we require players to opt-in for and be willing to attend no less than 75% of the classes offered (we highly encourage players to attend every class, if possible). If you can’t commit to attending the majority of classes in any program, then you can’t select it as an elective but you will be considered for drop-in opportunities. If a class is short players, we’ll offer weekly drop-ins to campers who aren’t taking the class as an elective.
Q: Do you guarantee that if my child attends your camp that he or she will become an elite player?
A: No coach, academy or club can guarantee any level of results due to the fact that all kids have different levels of athleticism, passion, drive, mental toughness and these all factor into the final results of their exposure to training. We do, however, pride ourselves on the balance of training and play opportunities provided at our camp and 1-on-1 training with a certified USPTA pro and experienced high school coach. We’ll also go above and beyond the duty to make players as great as they can be and to also grow their love of the sport.
Q: What’s the advantages of registering now instead of later?
A: Early registration savings (before 1/1/19) plus you get the better scheduling opportunities as we begin scheduling private lessons and book your electives as soon as you register.
Q: If I register now, do I have to pay now?
A: No, you’ll have the option to pay later (before the registration closes/camp begins) or a 12-month payment plan.
If you have other questions not answered above, please leave a question in the comments section below and we will gladly answer it and maybe add it to our list above.
