We run player spotlights from time to time to feature unique achievements from our academy players.
Sophomore Kiah Farrington played her first high school match this month, winning her very first match and later her first conference match. She captured the #1 overall seed at Wawasee High School at #1 varsity singles in her first year, making her the 5th girl trained at our academy under Coach Staley who has played #1 varsity singles at the school, spanning the past seven consecutive years.
A list of current and past girls and boys who’ve captured this honor:
- Jada Antonides (2015)
- Jazlyn Gehlhausen (2016)
- Dylan Staley (2017)
- Meg Heinisch (2017)
- Kendra Doerr (2018)
- Dylan Staley (2018)
- Kendra Doerr (2019)
- Holden Babb (2020)*
- Kiah Farrington (2021)
*2020 girls season cancelled due to COVID.
We’re proud to give Kiah the framework, education and pathway to achieve this, but this is mostly due to each players’ hard work and court hours they put in with us. Tennis is a slow-growth sport and really takes dedication and persistence to achieve such high honors as this, so a big shout-out and congratulations to Kiah for putting in the hard work for her team!
Outside high school tennis, Kiah is a member of Staley Tennis Club & Academy and active in USTA and UTR events. She is currently ranked in the top-25 in Indiana in her class as a top college recruit, according to the Tennis Recruiting Network. Since joining Staley Tennis, her UTR rating has more than tripled.
Good luck to Kiah and the Lady Warriors as well as to all of our academy and club players in their 2021 high school season!
