The first of our fall 2020 Duals is now in the books. We were back playing at one of our favorite venues, Wawasee High School’s 10-court facility in Syracuse, IN. A great day of competition between groups of players that ranged from unrated (the very first tournament appearance) up to more than a 5.5 UTR level.
Reese Filpus (Bremen, IN) took home the trophy in the first group by beating Holden Babb (Syracuse, IN) in the first round in an exciting 3-set bout 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7). Reese went to the second round, beating Joseph Harper in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to take home the glass duals trophy.
In the second group, Devon Kuhn (Leesburg, IN) came from behind to beat Nathan Harper in three sets 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6). His second round opponent was Molly Filpus (Bremen, IN) who he edged in a close straight set victory 7-5, 6-3.
In the consolations, Holden Babb got the W against Kiah Farrington (Pierceton, IN) in straights sets as did Nathan Harper (Warsaw, IN) over Gage Filpus (Bremen, IN).
