Attention all area junior tennis players! Registration ends of May 21, 2019 to play in our 2019 Challenger Series. This unique series for junior players (ages 11-18) is based on the classic ladder system with a twist. It involves singles match play. Each player will be assigned one match per week against another player in the series and may challenge other players in their rung for additional match play each week.
One of the most popular things about this series is the scheduling is flexible, as each player can play at a time each week that fits both schedules (challenger and opponent).
This incentivizes the all-important aspect of junior players getting their match play in. Generally the winner of this series is the player who issues the most challenges, plays more matches, but also has a steady winning percentage.
All matches are simple 8-game pro sets. Usually matches last an hour or less. The top player in each rung can challenge the bottom of the next highest rung to climb the ladder, to get to the top.
The series is based on a points system. Points are earned for each match won, each game won and total matches played.
The winning singles player will receive an award at the end of the summer.
$40 per player for the entire summer! New balls will be furnished for each match played at the academy in North Webster. For more information and to register, please visit the official Challenger Series page.
