If you love the sport of tennis, want to share your love of the sport with junior players and live within commuting distance to Syracuse Indiana, then this volunteer position might be to your liking.
This is a volunteer position (unpaid).
Reporting to the head pro, Shane Staley, mentors are assigned to summer camp programs to help with the training of junior tennis players. The Staley Tennis Academy summer camp takes place June 3-July 28, 2019 at Wawasee High School.
Activities include playing matches (Challenger Series) against other mentors and junior players. Assisting the head pro in programs and classes during camp as well as possibly taking part in hitting sessions.
Generally each mentor spends 2-3 hours on court each week in camp activities. This will include flexible hours to work around day jobs.
Requirements: All applicants must be 18 years or older. Liability forms must be submitted as well as background checks before positions will be filled. Must have a competitive tennis background and be willing to work under and learn the teaching, programs and drills of a USPTA professional trainer.
Selected qualified mentors will be reviewed for assistant (paid) teaching positions after 1 year of service.
Note: For paid positions, Staley Tennis Academy only hires currently certified USPTA and PTR professionals. Although this position will report to the camp at the Wawasee High School tennis courts, this job, camp or academy is NOT affiliated with the Wawasee Community Schools system.
