We’re a few weeks away from what would be the start of the summer academy, but this year’s scheduling for tennis activities has been limited. Over the offseason, I suffered a right shoulder injury (torn labrum, adhesive capsulitis), so unfortunately this summer will consist mostly of recovery and rehabilitation. This will be the first summer in more than 7 years I won’t be able to run a full summer academy.
There are currently also no club events scheduled. I will not be directing the annual LYC Tennis Summer Camp this year.
This is a bummer as I limit my tennis teaching to the summer months and this season I have reduced my schedule to a lighter coaching schedule of just doing private lessons in the AM starting June 6, 2022. I will utilize the ball machine and am making progress in physical therapy to begin light feeding during these training sessions. However, I won’t be taking on live hitting sessions, sparring and rallying with players, till I am fully recovered and cleared by my orthopedic physician.
One bright spot is that the most popular program I have run in the past remains private lessons and I can still teach and work toward training junior players through these private sessions which are now booking.
